How do I book my event?

Events are booked on a first come first serve basis. Once you have decided that you would like to hire the quartet for your event and the availability of the quartet is confirmed, a contract and other general information will be sent to you. As soon as we have received your deposit and signed contract, your event will be locked in and no longer considered tentative. Consequently, it is very important to return your deposit and signed contract as soon as possible.

If you are planning a wedding, a music consultation will be arranged. We prefer to schedule this no later than 30 days prior to your date. Completing the planner and music worksheet are very helpful tools in this process. If meeting in person is not possible, a phone consultation will be arranged.

For receptions, dinners, parties or other types of gatherings, the musicians will perform a variety of musical selections from the standard repertoire. Your requests, especially when received in advance are certainly welcome. We also ask that you inform us prior to your event if there are music selections or specific composers that you do not wish to have played.

Do you have a demo CD?

We prefer that you use the links to our music which are available on the web site. However, if you are having difficulty accessing these links, you can arrange a time to meet and listen to our CD. Please keep in mind that these are only selected measures from each piece and that our repertoire is much more extensive than what is listed on the web site. If you have a music selection that is not listed, it is quite possible that we have it in our repertoire.

May I have a solo piece played during the ceremony or reception?

Quite often, a selected piece of music can be quite stunning when performed by a solo instrument. The rate varies for this depending on the type of request. Please contact us at 970-237-2388 or email us for further details.

Do you accompany vocalists?

We can accompany one or more vocalists provided they are fairly professional and experienced. To insure a smooth performance of the music selection, a short rehearsal prior to the wedding is required. We also need to have the score of their music selection as soon as possible to determine if it is written in a manner for a quartet to easily read. Most of the time this isn’t a problem. If we need to re-write the score, there is a transcription fee of $40 an hour.

Do you perform with other musicians?

Yes, we are often asked to perform with other musicians.  We do have a repertoire of wedding ceremony music for trumpet and string quartet and will contract with the requested musician to perform with us. We ask that you notify us at least three months in advance if you would like us to coordinate with outside musicians.

Do you arrange special pieces unavailable for string quartet?

Yes, we almost always can. If it is not in our repertoire, or even available for string quartet, we can usually write an arrangement for the quartet (a fee typically applies, in all cases needs to be addressed on an individual basis).

Do you attend the rehearsal?

No, we will schedule a consultation meeting where the music for your wedding will be chosen. You will then receive a music selection sheet which will clearly outline what music was chosen and where it will be played during the ceremony. This sheet should be given to your wedding coordinator and can be used as a guide during the rehearsal. We also keep a copy of this cue sheet and you may call us at any time to make changes. Because we arrive early to set up, there is also enough time to meet with your wedding coordinator or other designated person in charge to review the plans and/or receive last minute changes. In our 25 plus years of experience, we have found this to be the most efficient and effective plan for everyone involved.

Do you perform outdoors?

String Quartet Con Brio does perform outdoors. However, in order for us to be able to provide the quality of music you want and to protect our instruments, we do have specific needs. Inclement weather and temperatures below 65 degrees can damage our instruments. Playing on an incline is also very difficult. We need to be able to set up in a flat area (approx. 10’ by 10’) which is sheltered from direct sunlight, rain and excessive wind. Please keep in mind that in Colorado it could easily snow in May or anytime from September on. It is strongly recommended that you have a back-up plan in case of unexpected Colorado weather changes.
